David Eldringhoff, MD, is a leader in sports medicine, hip, knee, and shoulder surgery, and the care of the injured athlete. He is skilled in orthopedic surgery and cares for patients in the Los Angeles area at Samimi Orthopedic Group in Brentwood, West Covina, and Sherman Oaks, California.

Dr. Eldringhoff was raised in Kansas City, Kansas. He attended Kansas State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in 2008 with a major in chemistry and minors in physics and microbiology. He received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2012. Dr. Eldringhoff completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Saint Louis University Hospital in Missouri.

He then completed a sports medicine fellowship at Congress Orthopaedic Associates in Pasadena, California. His fellowship focused on the treatment of injuries to the hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow, with a special emphasis on minimally invasive arthroscopic treatment. During his fellowship, Dr. Eldringhoff provided sports-related care for Occidental College, Pasadena City College, and several local high school football teams.

Dr. Eldringhoff has extensive and specialized training in orthopedic surgery, joint replacements, fracture care, sports medicine, and hip arthroscopy. His emphasis is on arthroscopic and open surgery of the hip, shoulder, elbow, and knee.

He has a unique interest in arthroscopic treatment of hip pathology that may one day be shown to prevent or delay the onset of hip arthritis in adolescent, young adult, and adult hips. Dr. Eldringhoff addresses hip impingement and labral tears with arthroscopic labral repair, using bioabsorbable bone anchors similar to those used in shoulder surgery. He also removes the bony abnormalities associated with this condition entirely through the arthroscope.

Dr. Eldringhoff also performs total joint replacement for patients with advanced hip, shoulder, and knee arthritis that cannot be treated with arthroscopy. For hip replacements, he utilizes the newest anterior approach, improving post-operative pain and providing quicker recovery.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Eldringhoff has had substantial involvement in orthopedic research. Specific projects have focused on advances in tibial plateau fracture treatment, cartilage regeneration, and arthroscopic surgical efficiency.
